Fantastic Fun learning days

Spend a day or half day with an expert learning and tasting your way through a range of drinks in the beautiful setting of the Walled Garden Carpenters Shop at Sugnall in Staffordshire. This beautiful rural venue at the heart of the 1,500 acre Sugnall Estate is the perfect setting to escape to for a spell of self-indulgence, learning more about your favourite drinks.

Whether it’s Whisky or Wines, Champagne or Cognac, Mojito Mixology or just wanting to grow your confidence when choosing wines then we have an Appreciation Day to suit you.

An ideal gift for those hard to buy for friends, relatives or work colleagues our Appreciation Days are run throughout the year, usually in groups of around ten and are available in half day (usually either a weekend morning or weekday evening) or full day usually at the weekend.

What’s included in an Appreciation Day?

Full day courses usually start with welcome drinks, tea, coffee soft drinks and then there’s usually two talk and tasting sessions before lunch, with a short break in between. Water and soft drinks provided throughout.

Lunch is usually a relaxed delicious event and can include the opportunity to sample some of what you have been learning about with food (especially for wine courses). Our lunches are prepared by the Sugnall Walled Garden kitchen cooks and include seasonal items as available from the gardens produce. Most dietary requirement can be accommodated by letting us know when you book.

The tasting sessions consist of any number of samples chosen by the ‘expert’ tutor to illustrate their particular talk. There is always ‘spittoons’ to hand however we do advise all participants to think very carefully about driving after one of our appreciation days!

Afternoon sessions again consist of two talk and tasting sessions with a short break for tea in between with the day finishing late afternoon or early evening, just in time to head out and put that new found knowledge to the test!

All the glassware, equipment, course notes, pens, paper etc are provided you will simply need to turn up to the venue in time to join the course.

Half days, are literally that, usually a shorter version of the full day course and often held on a weekday evening. There’s no lunch included of course, but we do provide light refreshments both on reception and between sessions.

The recipient of the voucher will then need to contact us to activate their Appreciation Day, we will then stay in touch with them to arrange a convenient course date for them to attend. Each voucher has a unique reference number when issued this will need to be quoted when contacting us.

Once the convenient course is booked, they simply need to make their way to Sugnall which is near to Eccleshall, Staffordshire and then to enjoy their Appreciation Day!
